Wicked Clothes presents: the ’A Woman’s Place’ Sweater!
A woman’s place is in the House and the Senate.
Despite being half of the population, women only make up 18.3% of the United States Congress. That’s a number that certainly needs to increase. Sport this sweater to show your support for current and aspiring women in politics.

Fourth line, smaller text: “By contrast, 13% of lesbians and 17% of straight women are rape survivors.” Fifth line: “STOP sexual violence against bi women!”]
The first in a series of infographics that I have in plan. For more information: http://www.buzzfeed.com/annanorth/bisexual-women-almost-twice-as-likely-to-be-abused For a (partial) explanation for why this is happening: http://radicalbi.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/hot-sexy-bi-babes-media-depictions-of-bisexual-women/ Or buy my book - Chapter 4 (Bisexuality, Feminism and Women) is pretty much all about this.

More research needs to be done on this topic. Better research. The causes need to be examined.
This is why bisexual visibility is so important. We can sit around and campaign for marriage equality all we want but the right to marry who we want isn’t going to help those of us who are raped and abused.

Awesome commentary bolded.

Wait, so according to this graphic, out of all women who are lesbian, bisexual or straight (excluding other sexual preferences), 26% of the women in the world have been raped. That’s either badly researched, worded incorrectly or a truly terrifying statistic.

This data in particular is only about the US. But yeah, the world statistic regarding rape/sexual violence is 1 in 3 women.

From an Our Bodies Ourselves blog post on U.S. intimate partner violence using recent CDC data:
43.8% of lesbian women, 61.1% of bisexual women, and 35.0% of heterosexual women had experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner.
Approximately 1 in 8 lesbians (13.1%), nearly half of bisexual women (46.1%), and 1 in 6 heterosexual women (17.4%) have been raped in their lifetime

Note that these are even less than the “true” numbers, since this data *only* looks at intimate partners, not victimization by acquaintances or strangers.

Lebanon: Aid Lags Far Behind as Syrian Refugees Increase
Syrians who have fled violent conflict at home to seek safety in Lebanon do not receive anywhere near adequate levels of humanitarian assistance and are living in extremely precarious conditions, a detailed survey released today by MSF.
The MSF report, “Misery Beyond the War Zone,” shows that of the 220,000Syrians who have sought refuge so far in Lebanon, many cannot obtain necessary health care, among other worrying findings. The survey, which follows a similarstudy carried out by MSF six months ago, reveals a marked deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, in large part due to extremely lengthy registration delays. Refugees in Lebanon are not entitled to formal assistance if they are not registered. Lebanon is home to the largest number of Syrian refugees.
